    Okay...here is the deal.
This morning I noticed my computer was acting weird...every now and again...it would get slow and freeze for a second then comeback working.
Well, I rebooted...and after that...when I went to open a program it wants to open but fails....nothing opens...then I tried the other programs I have and nothing...none open either...When I click to open..the hourglass shows as if to open but the goes and nothing happens. What Gives...Anybody have this problem with XP?

you can always do a restore from a point before you started noticing your problems. the only thing you will lose is anything that was installed from that point forward.

    Bill....
That's the thing...due to not being able to open stuff...I can't do Norton..and when I tried a RESTORE...even that didnt' open. Also, I said screw it and tried a FULL SYSTEM RESTORE..and nothing..doesn't OPEN.
Possible SPYWARE shit is the cause.

    download these two utilities:

    http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/fr...autoruns.shtml

    http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/fr.../procexp.shtml

boot into safe mode (F8, F10, F2 depending on your system), run procex to see whats running (should be next to nothing in safemode) then run ad-aware to remove whatever spyware is present, then run autorun to see what is configured to run at startup. remove anything that looks suspicious. you should be able to tell what should be there and what shouldn't.

    Hey Gang..thanx for you help.
I tried all I could of what you guys told me to no avail. Due to my computer not being able to open anything...I had to do a complete system recovery....Sure I lost lots of files but it had to be done. On that note, I'm back and running properly. Just wanted to thank you guys for helping out.
    and Yeah Tyson,
The whole cause was SPYWARE SH@T!!!

    Also, MYSPACE WARNING
After my computer bit the dust, I talked to a few people that are on MYSPACE...and it was said that a lot of people on MYSPACE have had the same sh@t happened to them. Word is, MYSPACE is crawling with nothing but SPYWARE and VIRUSES...So if you're on there...always run Anti-Virus, and be sure to download a PROGRAM that finds and deletes Spyware Crap.

    Yeah Ian...it sucks bigtime.
I ran Ad-Aware today and had 4 spyware items...
Ezula, When U, and 2 others I forgot the names...all of them were giving me ads and crap...one was even in my registry and stealing my email address and all that stuff...lucky for me I never do online credit card orders. Anyways, rand the spyware killer...and quarantined all of it and put on my ignore list. So now my computer is working fast while on the internet...but for sure I'll be running Ad-Aware every now and again.
